What we used to make the Spring Yarn Tree Craft
You want to cut the yarn into 1 inch pieces of yarn. we have found that to work best for this type of yarn crafts.
How we made the Spring Yarn Tree Craft
You will see the steps below that we used to make our yarn spring tree craft.
Paint the Trunk of the Tree
We started by painting the truck of the tree. We used watercolors and watercolor paper because of how study the paper is and water colors are fun to use. Plus it lets kids paint the tree trunk how big of small they want.
You could also draw the truck of the tree with a marker.
Paint the Branches of the Tree
You want to paint of few lines to make branches in the tree. Some of these branches will show through latter after you put the yarn on the tree.
Skipping the Painting of the Tree
If you want to skip the painting of the tree you can just use the blank tree in the Spring Dot Maker printables. Just be sure to print on cardstock or another strong paper to make easier to apply the glue and yarn.
Put Glue on the Branches of the Tree
Next, you are going to put glue around the top of the tree. You want it to cover a lot of the top of the tree.
And let kids decide how much glue is enough. They put only a little glue which is okay. The spring tree is their craft.
Place the Yarn around the Top of the Tree
You are going to place yarn all over the area with the glue. You can use both colors of pink, or just one color or pink. You can add in white yarn if you want.
We did a mix of light pink and bright pink for the tree.
Press the Yarn onto the Paper
Then we used our hands to press the yarn on to the glue more. We want to cover every area with glue.
Get Rid of Yarn Not Glued On the Paper
The final step is to stand up your yarn tree. Then you tape the paper and let the extra yarn fall off.
This also lets you see areas that have glue but nothing on them where you can repeat some of the steps above and add more yarn.
