Subitizing is the ability to recognize a small group of objects without counting. This would be with dots, dice, and tally marks as examples of groups of objects. Subitizing is part of the development of number sense.

You have baskets with a number on them. You have numbers from 1 to 10. This allows for number matching in different ways.

Ways to Use the Easter Egg Number Sense Printable
Preparing the Number Sense Printable
You might want to print the baskets and eggs on cardstock and laminate both if you plan to use them a lot. If you just one want one time use lighter cardstock.
And we used stardust cardstock to make it fun for Easter. The stardust cardstock has little flecks of color on the white.
Setting up the Easter Egg Number Matching
You want to have the numbers you are working on and match Easter Eggs with the different types of numbers. You can match all the eggs or just one of two eggs.
Do what is best for who is learning their numbers.
For beginners, start with just one egg to match. And for more advanced students, give them all the eggs.

Another fun activity you can do with just the eggs is put them in number order.
You can see the tally marks below but you can use the dice or ten frames. You can count forwards and backwards with them.

A fun activity for the ten frame eggs is to use unifix cubes to match the ten frame number.
You can match each of the ten frames on the eggs and make the same pattern. This is a great ten frames activity you could do with kids.
