What is Multiplication?
Multiplication is one of the basic math operations that kids learn.
Multiplication is the addition of equal groups together. So you would be adding groups of 2 together.
You multiply these numbers together to get an answer.
An example is 2 x 3 = 2 + 2 + 2 = 6

Ways to Use the Arctic Animals Multiplication Clip Card Printable
You are going to see a few ways we use these monster multiplication clip cards, plus a few printables you could use with them.
Setting Up Multiplication Clip Cards
One question I get a lot is how do you set up the clip card centers. And well, one easy way to do that is like this below. You give them the same amount of clothespins to match the multiplication clip cards and if they need extra help, the multiplication bookmarks.
Why the multiplication bookmarks? The multiplication gives them an easy way to self-check the cards they clip!

And saying multiplication equations and answering out loud lets them see and hear the problem simultaneously.
After kids clip the answer to the multiplication problem on the card, you can ask questions like:
- Can you skip count by 8s to the number?
- What number is 8 numbers before 32?
- What number is 8 numbers after 32?
- What are the multiplication equations for the other numbers on the clip cards? – (have them use the multiplication bookmarks if they don’t know)
Clipping Multiplication Clip Cards with Paper Clips
Now, if you don’t have clothespins around your house or classroom, you might have paper clips. Paper clips are great because you can work on fine motor skills in different ways.
Plus, you can see the answer to the multiplication clip cards better with paper clips.
Marking the Answer on the Multiplication Clip Cards
You can see the front of the card. You have the equation and three answers to pick from for the solution.
On the back of the card, you can use a light pencil to mark the correct answer with a circle. You can also give equations for the other answers on the back as well.
You can see a dot for where the 14 answer is and then 2×6 and 2×8 for the other numbers. This is another teaching tool you can use.
