What are fractions?
It is a numerical quantity that is not a whole number. It is also a number divided into equal parts.
Examples of fractions are 1/2 or half of a whole number.
You can see fractions like 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/8, 1/10. There are many different fractions that kids can work on.
Scarecrow Fraction Puzzles
The scarecrow Fraction puzzle are a great way to work on building fractions.
Each of the scarecrow fraction puzzles is vertical. The puzzles have the fractions on the right side and the picture they make on the left. I laminate each of the puzzles. This makes the puzzles last longer.
You will find fractions for the following numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10.

Ways to Use the Scarecrow Fraction Printables
You are going to see a few ways to use these fraction puzzles. You have a mix of ideas and how to use the puzzles.
Mix up the Fraction Puzzles
You can give them a set of mixed puzzle pieces and ask them to build the puzzle.
Build the Fraction Puzzles
You can see one of the built puzzles here. It is a simple way to build each puzzle.
After the puzzle is built, you can say the different fractions of the puzzles starting with the puzzle piece at the top.
Use the Fraction Number Line Bookmarks with the Fraction Puzzles
If you need extra help getting the fractions in order, you can use the fraction number line bookmarks. They are great for helping kids see the order the fractions go in.
You can see the completed puzzle and the number line that matches the puzzle. It is a great way to check if they put the puzzle in order.
Compare the Different Fractions with the Puzzles
You can also work on comparing fractions to make equal fractions or compare fractions that are not equal.
Fraction Puzzles That Have Some Equal Fraction
You can give them two sets of puzzles and have them build fractions until you have the same on each side. This allows kids to see that those fractions are the same even if the numbers are different.
Fraction Puzzles That Are Not Equal Fraction
You can give them two fractions that don’t match up and ask if they can make fractions are equal or if they can’t.
This is a great way to see that 2/5 and 2/4 are not the same, even if the numerator is the same. The denominator is different. And this is a great visual way to see it.
Fraction Book to Read with the Puzzle
