What is a paper roll craft?
A paper roll craft is one made using paper rolls. It is a great way to reuse something with kids.
We did a paper roll tree craft and had loads of fun doing it. It is super simple and one that different ages can do really easily.
A great book to go with this craft is Curious George Plants a Tree. You can learn about the tree in a fun way.

What we used to make the Paper Roll Green Tree Painting
These are all the items we used to make the paper roll green tree.
- watercolor paper
- paper rolls
- watercolors
- glitter paint
- paint tray
- fall dot marker printables optional
We did use the glitter paint but you can use regular green paint as well.
How we made the Paper Roll Green Tree Painting
You are going to see the simple step that we took to make this green tree. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
Watercolor Paint the Tree Trunk
You start by painting the trunk of the tree on the paper. This can be any size tree trunk they want. It can be a short tree, tall tree , or skinny tree. Let them decide how it will look.
One reason to use watercolors instead of paints is that watercolor drys fast and won’t mix the colors with the other paints.
If you want to skip this step for younger kids you can get a tree trunk in the fall dot marker printables.
Green Paints on Paint Tray
You can put the paints on the paint tray. This makes it easy to move the paper roll to cover the edge fully in paint.
Stamp Green With Paper Rolls
After you have the paint on the paper roll, you stamp on the paint to make the top of the tree. You can see that you have a few with loads of paint and some stamps with little paint. But that is what makes this a fun tree.
Plus let them decide just how much they are going to stamp. It can be a lot or a little. This is their tree and they can paint it the way they want.
The great thing about this green tree is that there is no wrong way to make it. It is a great open ending art project for kids.
They can stamp a little to make the tree or a lot. This is a very flexible art project. And if it does not look like a tree at the end that is okay.
