Free Frog Prewriting Strips for Kids
A great spring prewriting printable with a frog theme for kids.
These free frog prewriting strips are great for kids needing a little extra help with prewriting with a fun theme. Plus these work great for any pond or frog themed.
These are great for a fine motor learning center with two different types of prewriting lines. You have fun repeated patterns for kids to trace over and over. And the two levels let them build better fine motor skills.

So what is pre-writing?
Pre-writing is the skill to build to work up to writing letters and other types of writing. It also teaches the direction that we read.
You can start a lot of those skills with fine motor activities with playdough and other small motor movements. But a lot of those skills are working up to prewriting with lines. Then working on more fine motor skills that help to do better with writing and reading later in life.
The Frog Prewriting Strips work on prewriting with more complicated patterns for kids to use.
Frog Prewriting Strips: Repeated Pattern the Same Size
You have a repeated pattern for kids to trace. There are four patterns in the frog prewriting printable strips. You can see the four patterns below.

You have the same prewriting pattern as above but with different font sizes. This gives kids more prewriting that is similar but has a slight change for those needing more of a challenge.

Laminaing the Frog Prewriting Strip Printables
These strips are great to use over and over. I recommend laminating these so you can use them over and over. You can see that we laminate them and put them on a ring for easy storing and use in a learning center.
Picking the Right Frog Prewriting Strips To Use
You can use all 8 prewriting strips or just the strips that you want to use. You can see that we have just one set of the prewriting strips on a ring. This allows you to use just the prewriting strips that you need.
You can put just the first four strips or the last four strips. You could also put the matching strips together on a ring.
Use the Frog Prewriting Strips in a Learning Center
After you know what prewriting repeat pattern you are going to use then you set up a fine motor tracing center. You put the frog prewriting strips on a ring and give them a dry erase marker. And you can see we picked green for it!
Tracing The Frog Prewriting Strip Printables
Once you have the center up you can have them trace the lines. The colored dry erase markers let you see how well you did on the tracing.
Having the prewriting strips laminated is great because you can use them over and over.
If you have problems getting the colored dry erase marker off the strip I recommend using dry erase board cleaner. It takes it right off!
Wiping off the Line with a Q-Tip
Another fun activity you can do with these strips is to trace with a black dry erase marker and then erase the line with a q-tip or cotton swab.
It adds a little extra prewriting for kids and they find it fun and don’t realize that it is more prewriting practice.
Prewriting Strips in a Binder
Now one great thing about these frog prewriting strips is that they have four to a page. That means you can put the prewriting strips in a sheet protector and use them in a binder Which give you four sets of lines for kids to trace. Plus save on laminating as well.
