Torn Paper Olympic Rings – A Fine Motor Craft

The Olympics are starting soon! Can you believe it? There are so many ways that you can help kids learn about the Olympics.

The Olympic flag colors are one great way to work on it. You can have fun learning the colors and symbols of the flag while making your own flag.

You can make this simple torn paper Olympic Rings and have fun!

What are the Olympic Rings?

They are five interlinking rings. You have one blue, one yellow, one black, one green and one red. Each of the colors represents the colors from the five continents. But the colors are not linked to certain continents.

What you need to make your Torn Paper Olympic Rings

• 5 colors of construction paper red, yellow, black, blue, and green
• pencil
• white paper with rings – See below how we made the rings

How we made the Torn Paper Olympic Rings

You are going to find all the steps we use to make the rings. This is a fun craft and you can change it based on your needs.

Make the Rings

You can use the cut the ring template to make a circle and then traced that circle on the paper.

You can also use a big cup to make the rings.

Tear the Paper

You start by tearing the paper. This is a great find motor activity for kids to do! You build up finger strength while doing it.

If you have really small kids you could tear that paper for them but I find they love tearing the paper.

Glue on the Circle

Then you place glue on the paper. You can see we used a glue stick for our glue. I like it better when working with torn paper.

Place the Torn Paper on the Rings

Then you place the paper around the ring. It is super simple for kids to do. Plus it is great fine motor activity.

Complete the Rest of the Rings

After you get started make sure to complete the rings for the rest of the circles. Just make sure to get the ring colors in order: blue, yellow, black, green, and red.
