Hands-On Math with Pond Telling Time Hourly Puzzle
Puzzles are one of my favorite ways to learn. I know that I get asked a lot for more telling time printables, so now we have a telling time puzzle with a pond theme.
The telling time puzzle works on matching hourly times. It is a great way to review matching the digital clock to an analog clock.
Plus, it is a free puzzle that you can grab and use in learning centers.
The Pond Telling Time Hourly Puzzle is a great addition to the telling time printables and pond printables on the site.
What is Telling Time?
It is the ability to look at a clock and know what time it is. You start with learning hours and work to adding minutes.
The pond telling time puzzle printable works on telling time by hours with analog clocks and digital time.
The simple puzzle answer mat has 12 clocks that have hourly clocks. All of the analog clocks show the time hourly.
Each piece of the puzzle has a number in the lower-left corner of each piece of the puzzle that will match a clock on the mat. I printed the puzzle pieces on cardstock and laminated them.

Ways to Use the Pond Telling Time Puzzle Printable
There are loads of different ways to use the puzzles, and I’m going to show you a few of them.
Preparing the Mat
One thing that I love to do with the matching puzzles is put wall putty on them. This makes the pieces of the puzzle stick in place. You can see I place a small amount of it on the corner. I like the putty because you can reuse it, and I don’t need to use something that is one-time use, like velcro. But if you plan to use this in the learning center, a lot of velcro might be better.
You can see how the puzzle pieces don’t fall off when they are pressed onto the mat.
Setting up the Telling Time Puzzle for a Math Center
You can see below one simple way to set up the puzzle for a learning center. The mat is next to the puzzle pieces.
Doing the Puzzles
They pick up the pieces and place the matching times in the correct spot.
Puzzle in a Sensory Bin
I love to mix things up, and one fun way to do that is to up the puzzles in a sensory bin. I like to use rice for this because the puzzle pieces fit in nicely with the rice. We use the Life cycle of a frog and frog and turtle toob in the bin.
They pull out the pieces, and you have the time on the card revealed.
