What is skip counting?

Skip Counting is adding the same number over and over.

So when you skip by seven you got different repeat additions. Like 7 plus 7 plus 7 equals 21. That is skip counting by 7 3 times.

You can keep going with skip counting as many or as few times as you want.

Today’s football skip counting puzzles work on skip counting by 7s. You have puzzles with skip counting from 7 to 70 and 77 to 140. Each puzzle skip counts 10 times.

Things to use with your Football Skip Counting Puzzle Printables

Preparing Skip Counting Puzzles & Puzzle Mat

I always laminate the puzzles. This helps them last longer. I like to laminate them before cutting them out.

Then I cut out the puzzles. I know that people have different options about how to do this. So do what is best for you.

Another part of preparing the puzzles is the puzzle mat. This is a printable mat that you can use to help build the puzzles on. It has the space for the 10 pieces.

I like to laminate the mat and then put wall putty on it. This gives something for the puzzles to stick on.

How to use the Skip Counting Puzzles

You can just have kids put the puzzles together. Super simple and easy to do. It does not require anything extra.

I like to use the puzzle mat with the puzzles. It helps the pieces stay and not move around. And one way I set that up is with the mat and puzzle pieces. I might add the skip counting bookmarks if this is a new number.

You can see how easy it is to build on the mat you just press the pieces on the sides to make them stick.

Once you have the mat done you can have them skip counting the numbers forward and backward.

Another fun way to use the puzzles in a center is to mix up the puzzle on the mat and have them put it back in order. After they finish they can mix up the puzzles for the next person to use it.
