Thanksgiving Gross Motor Dice

I think that gross motor has always been one of my loves. And adding gross motor dice with a new theme is always fun! Today we have a Thanksgiving themes dice set. It is a great way to get moving without thinking that it is movement!

Plus I’m always getting asked for new gross motor dice and this one just seemed like a fun idea. I love doing gross motor in different ways.

You can use these for brain breaks, screen breaks and after school to get the wiggles out.

I have always loved the book I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie (Picture Puffin Books). It is fun way to see loads of Thanksgiving foods. And with that I it would be one of the books we read with this gross motor dice!

The Thanksgiving gross motor dice has the following themes for the gross motor: rolling pin, cornstalk, wish bone, mashed potatoes, table, and turkey. Plus you have a speed die as well!

Things to use with Thanksgiving Gross Motor Dice

• white cardstock
• scissors
• cube dice
• Number Dice
• tape

How to Make the Gross Motor Dice

I use the cube dice because I found they last longer. We tend to destroy the folding dice really fast.

We also love to throw the dice in the air a lot! they have loads of fun doing this!

Thanksgiving Gross Motor Dice Movements

Now I always try and keep the movements as simple as possible. Why make things complicated. Plus kids might have their own way of doing the movements as well!

I always review what I think the movements are the first time with the dice. This helps keep them and me safe.

Rolling Pin: You roll like a rolling pin on the floor.

Cornstalk: You lean to the right and left.

Wish Bone: You pull your arms apart.

Mashed Potatoes: You stomp your feet on the floor. You can also stomp with two feet at the same time.

Table: You pretend to sit at the table in a chair. Or you can tell them they do a squat.

Turkey: You pretend to list a HUGE turkey.

After you have the movements down then add the speed and number dice! You have normal, slow, and fast for the speeds. Those changes can make it fun. Then add in the number dice and you have how many times they do the movement. Simple changes that can make this fun!
