These are cards that can be stacked from biggest to smallest numbers to build numbers. It is a simple way to work on expanding numbers and how they become standard numbers.

The Earth Place Value Arrow Card Printables set has numbers from 1 to 9999 that kids can make with the cards. I recommend printing the arrow cards on on cardstock and laminating them.

How to stack the Arrow Cards
You start with all the cards you are using for the number. It shows all the expanded forms of the numbers. You can see 5,000, 100, 80, and 6 for the place value arrow cards.
You take the hundreds card and place it on the thousands cards. You line up the Earth on each of the cards. The Earth is on the right side. So the cards line one that that right side.
So you see the number 5,100 has been built.
You repeat the same process again with the 80 and 6 to make the number 5,186. Always starting with the biggest number.
Ways to Use these Earth Day Place Value Arrow Cards
These cards are an easy way to work on building numbers.
Use the Numbers with the Place Value Arrow Cards
You take a set of place value task cards. You can see we are starting with the tens and ones task cards. You pull out the matching cards for the number. You find the 10 and 7 cards. You can see how it shows the expanded form of the number.
Then you stack the place value cards biggest number to littlest number. This makes the number to match the task card.
Then work your way to bigger number place value numbers. It is easy place value activity to do once you get the idea. I tried to not have too many numbers repeat in the sets so you can build loads of numbers at the same time.
Store the Number Cards on Rings
If you are looking to store these place value cards, I recommend putting them on rings. It is super easy to do. You use a hole punch and put the number cards on a ring. You can do the same for the number cards. I recommend punching those on the right side by the earth.
It also makes it easy for kids to flip through the cards as they are building their numbers.

If you want to use the place value arrow cards with out the task cards. Then use place value dice. It makes building numbers super easy. You roll the dice and find the matching numbers. Then stack the number to make it standard form.
