Polar Bear Sorting Nouns & Verbs with Polar Bears Past Bedtime
I love that as we read the Magic Tree House books we are learning and having a fun time doing it. It gives me time with my youngest and we love it.
I love that these sets of books take you to see all sorts of animals. We just love the arctic animals. Polar bears have been a favorite for us for forever.
It also gives me a chance to work on some grammar work with nouns and verbs.
This week we go to the artic with Polar Bears Past Bedtime (Magic Tree House, No. 12). I also love that this one has a fact book: Polar Bears and the Arctic: A Nonfiction Companion to Magic Tree House.
You get to learn about animals and the people who live there. It is a small look into their lives. Plus there is a puzzle to solve at the end of the book. It is fun to read and see what happens in each book.
I love that you can add in different words to learn with these books. We have a very fun noun and verb activities. A lot of the words are from the book. So you will have read them at some time.
There is a sorting mat that has the words noun and verb on them. This is a great visual for them to use. I recommend printing these on cardstock to help them last longer.
There are several cards to sort for nouns and verbs. They are all words you would have read in the book. I like to print these on cardstock and laminate them so they last longer.
And finally, there is a writing page. You can write about sentences with the words you sorted. You can use both words or you could use just one word.
What you need for this Polar Bear Sorting Nouns & Verbs activity
How we did the Polar Bear Sorting Noun and Verbs
I love to mix things up. So we put the cards into an arctic sensory bin! I used rice for the filler of the bin with the Safari Ltd Arctic TOOB and blue glass gems.
She pulls out the cards from the bin. It is fun to pull the cards out of the sensory bin.
Then she read the word on the card. It is great for sounding out words as well.
Then the words get sorted to the mat. It is fun to see which words she pulls out and how many she remembers from the book.
Finally, we finish the activity with writing. This is one that you can do many times. You pick a noun and a verb and make a sentence with them.
