The cards have a picture and word that match each of the beginning blends. There are 20 sets of cards for the blends. I recommend printing the cards on cardstock. It will help them laster longer.

Each of the cards is about matching the blend in the picture with the blend on the word.

You can see an example of the fun cards below with their matching words. It set has the following blends: bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fl, fr, gl, gr, pl, pr, sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, & tr.

So you have a picture of a planet and matching the word play and train picture matching the word tree.

Ways to Use the Blends Matching Cards

I love having different ways to use the cards. One of my favorite items has been a pocket chart. I had forgotten we had a tabletop pocket chart one until I found it again in a box. It is super easy to use and set up. You can put the picture or the word on one side and have them match the other. It is easy to have

You can pull out one type of blend and have kids work on it. I pulled out all the blends that have an “r” in them and had them match the cards. It is simple and easy to do.

If you want a quick way to do matching but don’t want to set it up then have the kids flip through the cards on rings. Then they can flip through the cards and find the match.
