Free Summer Reading Bookmarks With Books and Minutes
For a lot of us, summer is already here! It is amazing how fast the year goes by. I know that I start thinking about summer reading and what we are doing each summer.
I’ve made several reading charts over the years. I love using them and they can help some kids with their reading.
We have always working on how many books or minutes we have read. So these bookmarks work on that!
The Summer Reading Bookmarks are a great addition to the summer printables and bookmark printables on the site.
Summer Reading Bookmark Printables
As I said there are several bookmarks because not all kids read at the same reading level or amount of time. I made four similar bookmarks but with different amounts of time.
Each bookmark has 18 books on them. These can mean time or just a picture book. I wanted something for the beginner reader that works up to the older readers. The four bookmarks are in color and black & white to help with your printing needs. We have been doing reading times and then coloring the books. It has been a great help.

How to use these Summer Reading Bookmarks
Keeping Track of Books Read
The first bookmark is great for those younger readers who are doing simple easy reader books. We used something like this when my youngest was doing her easy reader book time. We read the BOB Books sets and had marked off each time she read a book.
BOB Books just put out a new beginner reader books Animal Stories (BOB Books). They sent me a copy to look it. They are another great addition to the series. So if you have a child reading these books. You can grab the bookmark without numbers and have them color each time they read a book from the set.
Summer Reading Bookmarks with Keeping Track of 10 Minutes Read
For those kids that are working on building reading time, you can start with the 10-minute bookmark. This is a great start for pushing kids to read for a longer period of time. These work great with the early chapter books like the The Lost Stone (The Kingdom of Wrenly). They can read 10 minutes and then mark off on the bookmark.
Summer Reading Bookmarks with Keeping Track of 20 & 30 Minutes Read
There is also a 20-minute and 30-minute bookmarks. These are for the older kids you want to push into reading longer periods of time. We have been working on a longer reading time for my youngest. She has been reading Lemony Snicket books: The Bad Beginning: Or, Orphans! (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 1). And giving her a 20-minute bookmark is a great way to challenge her to read more. I hope to push her towards to 30-minute for the end of the summer.
You can also use educational graphic novels for kids with these bookmarks.
The 30-minute is great for older kids that need to have more time reading. It gives my girls a visual of what they are reading. They read a mix of books and have fun with them all. But it is fun to keep track of their reading and give extra rewards for doing loads of 30 minute reading time.
My middle is reading Wings of Fire Book One: The Dragonet Prophecy and is loving the series. She is hoping to reread it this summer. So these bookmarks will help her keep track of how much she has read.
