What Are CVC Words?

CVC words are words that have a consonant vowel consonant pattern. They have easy to sound out consonants with a short vowel sound in the middle. They don’t have any tricky blends or digraphs for kids to work around.

They are considered simple words that can be used with early readers to help sound out and decode words.

They have short vowel sounds that make sounding out words easy.

You are going to find words like cat. Kids can sound out the letters C A & T. And then blend the sounds together to make the word.

You will see a few ways to use this CVC word family dot marker printables.

Dot Marker & Trace the CVC Words

The most basic way we use these is to trace the words and dot the letters. It is simple easy and straight forward. We use dot markers all the time at our house and love them. I also like colored pencils so they see the tracing.

Stamp Letters in the Dots & Trace the CVC Words

Another way is to use abc stamps and stamp the letters in each circle. This gives you a different type of fine motor work. We use the stamps to make the ending sound the same color.

Reuse the CVC Dot Marker Words With Tracing

If you want to reuse these pages then laminate them or put them in sheet protectors. Then you can use dry erase markers on them and hands-on objects for the circles. We use clear counters and glass gems a lot of the time.

Another way to use them if you have them laminated is to have them roll up playdough balls for each circle and then use abc stamps to stamp the correct letter in the playdough. It is a great way to reuse the pages.
