Sunset Watercolor Themed Painting
What I love best about art projects is that time I get to spend doing them with my girls. We always enjoy doing this. Watercolors have been a favorite activity for us the last little while. We are always mixing up we are doing.
Today a have an art project my 8 year old decided that we should do. This was a great one on one project for us to do together. We did a watercolor sunset!
She took a book she loved from the May 2018 Book Finds for our project.
Sunsets are a favorite of mine to just sit and watch. My girls will often set with my and watch them. It is something fun we do together.
My youngest and I just love doing this. She wanted to do an art project and this is what she put together. It was fun and simple and we used ideas from the book.
What You Need For This Activity
- Black oil pastel crayon
- Watercolors
- watercolor paper
A lot of the time when we do a project or one kind or another it is because my girls have asked for it. Well, my youngest brought all the materials together and the book she was going to read to me. This book is from one of our book finds. It was Windows by Julia Denos.
She read me the book and then we did out craft.
How We Did Our Activity
We started by drawing our trees and houses on the paper. This was fun to see the different ways you could make a tree of a house. We also talked about near and far houses and trees. It was fun to do this project just one one one.
The last step we did was paint the sunset. This was loads of fun because we could pick and choose loads of different colors. We saw many of them in the book.
