A Fun Apple Long Division Sorting Activity
It is not always easy to find fun math activity for older kids! I know my oldest tells me that she misses out on the fun things she used to do.
Today I have something that is fun for long division! We had fun sorting apples by those with a remainder and no remainder. It is reviewing upper-level math in a fun way!
This printable is a part of the 5 Days of Apple Printables.
As you go up in grades the math that you do changes. You start with simple division where it becomes one number. You learn division facts from 1 to 12 or 15. Each time you work on these you are learning in ways to lead to other math.
We have been working on long division with my soon to be 6th grader. She does not always like to do it. So I made it fun by adding apples and sorting!
You start out with a mix of 12 apples. There are 6 apples that go on each tree. I printed the apples and trees on cardstock. You can laminate them for to help them last longer.
How We Use These Printables
I put the tree sorting mat to the side and put the apples and division paper by her. She picks an apple and does the division.
After she does the division she sorts the apples to the trees. There are two trees one with remainder and with no remainder.
If they are having a problem finding numbers you can pull out the division bookmarks. They are helpful when you get stuck trying to figure a problem out.
