Wiggly And Squirm With The Bug Gross Motor Dice

I’m always trying to get the wiggles out and what is better than a bug themed gross motor for wiggles. My girls love the dice that they can pull out and do whenever they want.

We have had fun with the other gross motor dice. When I asked my girls about what we might be missing they said bugs really loud!

Bugs are such a great theme to do! We love so many different bugs. We have loved several bug books and that is what brought about this bug theme gross motor dice. We were reading Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! and they asked for a gross motor dice that would match up with some of the book. And there we have it a bug gross motor dice.

Each dice set has their own fun gross motor activities, but with the cube dice you can mix them up! The cube dice have the movement on them and the folding dice just have the name.

I have found that the cube dice tend to last longer and my girls just love throwing the dice around. All to often my girls like to throw the dice at the ceiling.

Bug Gross Motor Dice Movements

Here is a look at the 6 different movements. Each of them is slightly different in what they do. I always review the movements first before we do the dice. This allows them and me to make sure we know what they are doing.

I also check to make sure they have space around each other for the movements. I call it my “space check”. If space is an issue they might do a movement one at a time.

Ant: You march around the room. You could sing the song the “Ant Go Marching” as well!

Bee: You flap your arms as fast as you can and make a buzzing sound.

Butterfly: You gently make your arms be the wings of the butterfly and flutter around the room.

Grasshopper: You jump around the room. You can do standing jumps or jumps from the ground.

Worm: You lay on the ground and wiggle and squirm your way around.

Spider: You get up on your toes and tip toe around the room like you are on a spider’s web.

We are always changing up how we do the activities. My girls love adding the extra dice for how many times to do a movement or how long to hold a movement. You can find the number dice here.

If you don’t want to mess with the dice you can always just print them and use them as a set of cards. Mix them up and have them turn over the gross motor they will do. You can also mix in other of the gross motor dice as well!
