Torn Paper Mountains
One of our favorite parts of our trip this summer was seeing lots of mountains. We don’t have any mountains in Massachusetts. They thought it would be fun to do something to remind us of part of our trip.
I got reminded of the scrapbook paper from the other day and they asked to make some mountains to remind them of our fun trip. This is another addition to our after school crafts that is just something fun we can do together or just have the do.
One of the fun things we did recently was look over all the pictures we took from out trip. It was fun. And before we started this craft we looked out some of the mountain pictures from out camping trip.
We looked at how the mountains were in the pictures. This was one of their favorite pictures from the trip.
We pulled out the scrapbooking paper again and went about making our mountains at home.
What you need for this activity: mix colors of scrapbooking paper and a glue stick
They each picked out four different papers they wanted to use for their mountains. Each had their own idea of what would be goo. I loved to see how creative they can be with a project.
Then we laid out the colors in the order we wanted to make our mountains. Each of them picked out how the colors would be laid out. This also made it easy for the next step to know what order the paper should be glued down.
They went about tearing the paper and gluing it on. They had tons of fun doing their mountains and deciding how their mountains should look. Each layer of paper they did you made sure to see where the next paper layer should go. It was fun to see them tear the paper and watch the mountains come together.
Simple projects are really fun to do after school. My girls love using them as a way to unwind from school. Sometimes we do these before homework and sometimes after homework. It all depends on the day.
