November Poppins Book Nook: Feasts Around the World
This time of year is full of feasts of many different kinds. There are holidays around the world with different kinds feast. There are some holidays that I know my girls, and I don’t know about all of them and this is a chance to look into more of them.
There are so many books to explore. Here are some what we are looking into as well as some favorites.
A Medieval Feast (Reading Rainbow Book) is a classic. I like that with the theme of feast there are so many different ideas of feast. I like historical feast as well as those around the world.
Stone Soup (Aladdin Picture Books) is a Caldecott Honor book. I really like the story of Stone Soup. We have read several verions of this story.
Kids Around the World Celebrate!: The Best Feasts and Festivals from Many Lands is a book we are going to check out. We have read others in the series.
Bread, Bread, Bread (Around the World Series) is a book we read recently at about different breads. It is fun to learn about the same foods made different ways.
Everybody Cooks Rice (Carolrhoda Picture Books) is another book we are going to be checking out. I like the idea of seeing how people in our neighborhood uses rice. It is common dish in many different areas. There are several more in this series to check out as well. Everyone has different ways to use a common cooking item.
One is a Feast for Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale (Mouse (Holiday House)) is another book we will check out. I love to find different ones about Thanksgiving Feast.
Bear Says Thanks (The Bear Books) is a great feast story with Bear and friends. We love this series by Janet Chapman and Karma Wilson. It is fun to see what bear fixes for his friends.
This Is the Feast is another Thanksgiving feast book. It is one we will be looking into. I really like reading different stories about Thanksgiving.
