Mother’s Day Behind the Blog
I hear these words often, “your house always looks so nice”. Well, if you knew me you would never say that. There is a lot that happens or does not happen when you blog. If you are a blogger some things are very nicely staged that way. Today for Mother’s Day a few bloggers are talking about what happens behind the blog. The things you never see or know about. The life of a blogger is far from the perfect picture we give you.
1. When I started this blog over 2 years ago, it was a balance act and still is. I get up at 5AM to work on things. The only day I don’t get up at 5AM is on Sunday. I spend most of the morning in my pjs and slippers until the girls get up and then I get dressed. I rarely do my hair any more. Most times I just goes in a ponytail and stays that way all day.
2. One other behind the scenes is that I have fibromyalgia and it does affect how I get them done or not done.
3. When you see a nice clean table for an activity beware that the table might have looked like this or worse 15 minutes before we started the activity. I always have to move something out of the pictures or take a clever shot of the activity. There is never a time that something is not straightened or moved to make it look better.
4. I know a lot of your know my goal is to do two loads of laundry a day, but sometimes I wait until the last minute to fold them. So I have to move them out of way to take pictures. Even if the laundry is done I often have a basket somewhere that needs to be moved.
5. I’m not always as organized as I appear. A lot of times I miss making my to do list or or the menu for the week does not get done and things always fall apart.
6. I have ups and downs with my girls all the time. I love them but they can be a big trial for me.
7. My small kitchen counter rarely is clean these days. I don’t always get or make time to clean it as much as I would like. Plus my room looks like a mess.
8. Dusting does not always happen either. See I can write in the dust! Not all the cleaning gets done. Often times I can’t do as much as I want.
9. I make sure the girls room is cleaner than other rooms. I want to be able to go in their room and check on them if I need to during the night without stepping on something.
10. I always have a notebook at by my computer and always write ideas down in it. I have lists of ideas and lots of them never done. But still fun to collect them. I panic when I misplace them. I have about 6 of them, and each one has different notes in them. For what I do on the blog and printables I put in 30 to 40 hours each week. It is a job thought it does not pay like one.
11. Things don’t always run smoothly when we do activities. I use to post all our crafts but after we had one major melt down from the girls I started to only post them every now and then.
12. My girls don’t always want to do printables. I have to make creative ways for them to use them some time. And a lot of the time they just refuse to do them.
13. I love what I do. I hope that I can do it for years. I love the connection that I have with each one of you. Your comments always make a bad day the best day for me.
I hope you enjoyed my small part of behind the blog. Be sure to check out all the other bloggers doing this! We are all people with different things happening.

My house looks a lot like yours! Thanks for taking us “behind the scenes”!
You are welcome. I wish it were cleaner at times, but I’m slowing down and taking time for the house more.
This is probably the best mother’s day gift–seeing I am not alone in my struggles! I just never seem to have enough laundry baskets or places to hide the laundry, lol! Happy mother’s day!
I think everyone struggles and this is always good to have as a reminder that things are not always the perfect that the blogs make it.
LOVE that you are showing “behind the scenes” because that is exactly what is going on in many homes, Cassie. Your blog is helpful, entertaining, inspiring, and creative. That’s because of YOU and they way you’ve approached it. Thank you for sharing everything with your readers. We appreciate you and hope for many more years of 3 Dinosaurs!
I’m glad you like the blog! I have loved doing the blog and making things. I just love to see how creative I can been at times. It always makes my day that people like what I do.
I love this post. Thank you so much for sharing. As a new blogger, it’s comforting to know that the experienced bloggers go through the same things I do. Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Yup we all do go through it! There is always something to going on behind the scenes. I think this is a good reminder that we are all human.
ooh thanks, it’s nice to know i’m not the only one that moves things around.
You don’t know how many times I had a great picture and then it did not work because a laundry basket was they way! So now I’m much more clever about my pictures and work on it.
Hi Cassie, You and your 3 gorgeous girls and your household seems like any other household to me. The point is you SPEND TIME and enjoy being with the children. I love your blog. I am a grandmother to 6 and I also take your ideas down and then we recreate activities with my grandchildren. I am from Australia xx
I’m glad you can do those activities with the grandkids! I think that is important as well. I love spending time with my girls. I means a lot to me.
I used to blog as well, and this is exactly how it was for me too. My little boy didn’t enjoy doing the printables and didn’t like getting his picture taken in particular. That’s at least part of the reason I stopped. Happy Mother’s Day!
The girls do enjoy the activities but not always. Most days go just fine without any problems. I don’t see me stopping at any time soon.
Great post, thanks for taking the time to share 🙂
You are very welcome!
Cassie – thanks for sharing your “behind the scenes” blogging life! Really enjoyed it. So many things rang true for me as well – #10 especially. Lists, lists, lists – have to get more organized… Great job!
I do to. I keep making lists, and when I use them life goes so much better.
Thank you for sharing this. As a new homeschooling mama, it can feel overwhelming at times, especially with a one year old running around. I totally appreciate the honesty. This just shows me I am not alone.
OH you are not alone. When I was doing preschool activities and had two younger and no clue what to do with everyone. It was just working at it one day at a time. I accepts that their will be a small mess some times.
I love this post! I usually have baskets of clean laundry waiting to be folded too! 🙂
I have 4 waiting for me. I need to get them done soon! I try really hard not to have laundry. My two goals is to have no dishes and no laundry out at the end of the day.
Happy Mother’s Day to you! You are wonderful, for sharing so many of your ideas and resources with us! And I think your daughters won’t remember the clean houses and stuff like that…they will remember you putting in awesome effort all for them! And I am sure they are going to appreciate that, in time 🙂
And thank you, for keeping it real 🙂 SOmetimes, all this awesomeness we see in all the blogs, weighs one down 🙂
Cassie, thank you for all great job you do. Your posts are great and your printables are wonderfull. Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you so much, really soooo much. My friend turned up unexpectedly the other day and I had all my dishes strewn across the work tops for the last three days as we had been out a lot. I felt terrible but I am sooo glad it isn’t just me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks for the behind the scenes look at your blogging life. I think there are many of us that have stuff piled up out if sight. 🙂
