What We Learned: The Box
A package arrived from Grandma and once the box was empty it became a toy. Each took a flap and started coloring. Soon my oldest was getting in and out saying in and out. My middle and youngest were following along with oldest. Some basic things were learned without me teaching it to them: in, out, open, close, top, bottom, under, beside, and how much would fit in the box.
The box for the last week has been moved around the house several times and became many things:
- Bed for stuffed animals
- Bed to rest in
- Boat
- Place to hide/turtle shell
- Something to step or jump over
- Car for a drive
- Fun place to watch TV
- Present to open
- Place to play peekaboo
- Long Hair
- Rock to try and move
- Umbrella at the beach
- Hat
- Dinosaur nest
A simple item can be magical. What have your kids done with a box?

My kids love boxes!! They take possesion of any that they find and I am continually amazed at how many ways they find to use them.
I have to hide the boxes from the girls. But they enjoy them when they do get the boxes.
