Easy To Make Torn Paper Planets
Space has to be one of our favorite themed to do. We have done several sets of space weeks over the years. We have some favorite types of crafts to make. We love torn paper crafts. They are so much fun and everyone can be creative.
Today we have some torn paper planets! There were really fun to make. We did not make planets in our solar system we made planets we thought we would find exploring space.
One thing I love about torn paper crafts is that it works on fine motor skills while creating art.
We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission.
This is a great addition to the space crafts and torn paper crafts on the site.
I love pairing up a book and a craft. It makes it more fun. We read the book Mousetronaut Goes to Mars (Paula Wiseman Books). We talked about where else might that little mouse like to travel to. We all made planets that we thought he might like to go to. This made our planets fun and creative.
You might also doing a solar system craft after this one.
What you need for the Torn Paper Planets Craft:
How we made the Torn Paper Planets
Draw a Circle for the Planet
The first thing was making the shape of the planet. We used a paper plate and crayon to draw on the black glitter paper. The crayon was to make sure we could see the outline of our planets.
Pick out Paper for the Planet
Next, we picked out the paper. We had loads to pick from and each of us had different ideas of what colors would be good to use.
Tear Paper and Make the Planet
Now came the fun part of making the planets! Everyone wanted to do their own thing and be creative. I love that crafts like this are flexible in how you make them. It is open ended and you can do it any way you want. There is no wrong way to make the planet.
We did talk about what type of planet we were making and what we thought might live there. Everyone had their own ideas and it was fun.
While making our planets we decided the glue did better on the glitter paper than the paper we were putting down. It stuck better.
Make Stars Around the Planet
To finish off our planets we use the white sharpie paint marker and put stars around in the background for our planet.
