Hands-On Thanksgiving Counting Mats for Numbers 1 to 10
Thanksgiving is always a fun theme to create printables around. There are many different parts of the story we can learn. The first Thanksgiving good learning tool for younger kids. The pilgrims and natives met to feast on the harvest of the summer. I made these free thanksgiving counting mats reenact that time.
Kids love things they have move around and play with. We have loved counting mats and enjoy them! It is fun to do new themes with them.
This is also a part of the 31 Days of Printables! This has been such a fun series to make.
The mats are great for kids working on their numbers 1 to 10. Plus they are easy to set up and use. I also like the idea that these show kids how to use a ten frame. That gets to be so much more important when they get to other grade levels. These are great for PreK and Kindergarten or you can use them to review for first grade.
Each of the mats has the number written out, a number for playdough, and ten frames. You can see how I set up the mats for them to use. I use playdough, the pumpkins and the pilgrims and natives. You can also use the Jamestown Settlers TOOB and the Powhatan Indians TOOB with this set. It would add another hands-on counting element for kids.
I often laminate the pages if we are going to use them often. But if I’m out of laminating sheets I’ll use a sheet protector on the pages. Plus that makes it easy to store. You can see how we placed the pumpkins in the ten frames to match the number and used the pilgrims and natives on the mat.
