Ways to Use the Planet Addition Matching Printable
You are going to see a few ways to use these planet addition matching activities. You will see ideas for setting up and different ways to use the addition printable.
Printing and Preparing the Space Addition Cards
For the best life of the addition printable, makes sure to print the on white cardstock and laminate. You can print just on cardstock if you use it once or twice. If you will be using it a lot them, laminating helps the printable last longer.
Setting up the Rocket Addition Matching Activity
You can see below one way to set up the addition sorting activity. You can use all the addition rockets or just a few. You can also use as many of the planets as you want.
You could also set it up with items for making the addition equations. This can be a good hands-on activity for kids that need extra help.
You can see we used stars but you can also use unifix cube.
Sorting One Equation for Each Number
If you are starting out with addition, start with just one addition equation to sort at a time. You can see how simple it looks below.
The sorting is easy. You can review the addition on the cards as well. You can have them say the equation and then the answer as they sort it.
So 3 plus 1 equals 4. They say it and then sort the rocket to the number four planet.
Sorting all the Addition Equations
If you are doing well with addition then this set is a great review. You can have them sort all the addition rockets for the planets. You can even ask them why they are sure the equation is with the right planet.
Using Hands-On Items for the Math
You can also use the hands-on items for the math. So you can look at the equation and make the equations with items. You can see we used stars to make the equation. And it is also a great way to do a check with the items to make sure they got the addition match right.
This is a great addition activity for kids who like hands-on learning.
Use a Pocket Chart for the Sorting
You can also use the rocket addition matching in a desktop pocket chart . You can see how the planets and the rockets fit in perfect. You can have kids do this in a center doing 3 at a time or use a bigger pocket chart for kids to sort.
