How we made the Solar Eclipse Wreath Craft
You will see the steps below we used to make this total solar eclipse craft. And at the end is changes for annular solar eclipse.
Dot Marker Paint the Paper Plate
We used a black dot marker to paint the paper plate. Dot marker dry quickly and make it great for crafts you want to do in a short time.
You could also use watercolors to paint the paper plate black.
Punch out the Circles
You want to have 5 black circles and 4 yellow circles for the total solar eclipse Wreath. You can do this in advance if you want or let kids do it.
Kids love to use the punches to help make their crafts.
You can see the sizes and how they look below. You want to make sure you have the correct number for the wreath. You only need 4 yellow. And we love using this glitter paper for crafts.
Lay out the Circles in the correct Solar Eclipse Order
After you have the circles punched out, you will have to lay out the circles in the correct order for the solar eclipse. You will notice that the total eclipse is just a black circle.
Glue the Solar Eclipse Together on the Wreath
You see the steps below for putting the eclipse on the wreath.
Start with the Total Eclipse
You paint a circle for while the total eclipse will go. Use you a cotton swab and white paint. This gives it the white background that you see with a total solar eclipse.
Then you glue the black circle on the wreath where you painted. The white paint will stick out behind the black circle for the total solar eclipse.
Glue the Rest of the Solar Eclipse on the Wreath
You want to blue the rest of the sequence of the eclipse around the Total eclipse in order. We went clock wise around the wreath.
Changes for an Annular Solar Eclipse
You will see the changes below to make this an Annular solar eclipse wreath.
Use a Smaller Punch for the Black for the Moon
You want to use a smaller circle punch for the black circles than the yellow glitter paper for the sun. You can see the size difference below. We used 1 inch for the black and 1 1/2 inch for the yellow.
You also want to have 5 of the black and 5 of the yellow glitter.
Gluing the Annular Solar Eclipse
When you place the annular solar eclipse on the wreath you want to make sure the black circles is in the middle of the yellow. And then you follow the directions above for everything else.
Make a fun ring of fire for the wreath.
