Shell and Water Bead Sensory Bin
We are enjoying our last week of summer break. We had plans to go to the beach, but they did not happen. So instead we had a shell and water bead sensory bin at home. Sensory bins are tons of fun!
I love sensory bins. They are great for kids to explore and be creative all on their own. I sometimes do activities with the items from the bins. There are other times they are just open and fun play.
The textures of the water beads vs the shells are great. You have smooth and rough.
What you need for this shell sensory bin:
I leave the shells on the top and my girls love to mix everything in! They love to run their hands through the water beads.
One of the first things they did was scoop up water beads with the shells. It was fun to see how they got beads with the different shell types. They also put similar shells together to make a clam shell with a pearl inside. Kids can be creative when given different objects.
The girls had so much fun with this bin. It has been a fun activity to do right before school starts. They played with this dig several times and had fun each time.

GREAT IDEA! I love the idea of having a ‘water’ or ”beach’ theme in our sensory box in our school room but cringe at the idea of sand and water all over the carpet. GENIUS!
I love water beads. So much easier to clean up! Though they do bounce and roll a lot.
We have never tried water beads! They look like so much fun!
My girls just LOVE the water beads. It is has been a great sensory tool for me to use.
