September 2012 Book Finds
Most Loved in All the World by Tonya Cherie Hegamin and Cozbi Cabrera is a book about slavery and mom who made a quilt for the daughter. The mother was sending her to freedom. This book lead to lots of questions from my girls. We the historical information provided in the back. It gave the girls more information. It was a nice way to talk about something that happened in history.
Basher: ABC Kids by Simon Basher is a great ABC book. Ever letter has a sentence with all the words beginning with that letter. It was fun to talk about the silly things that we saw in the book.
Previously by Allan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman this is a great stories about where characters where previously. This is a great book to find out where it all started for this. Character range from Goldilocks to the Gingerbread Boy. This is fun an lots of creative ways to look at everything that happened previously.
The Sunflower Sword (Andersen Press Picture Books) by Mark Sperring and Miriam Latimer is a great book about a boy who wants a sword to whoosh and swoosh. So he can be just like the knights that fight dragons. His mother gives him a sunflower. I love this book because is is creative and fun! Plus it has dragons.
