Easy Sensory Bin with Seasonal Erasers

Sensory bins are always a big hit at our house. We also like one that are simple and easy to put together. This sensory bin is a quick to put together. Seasonal erasers are always easy to find and very cheap. I find bags of 60 or so erasers for a dollar often. This one has valentines themed erasers in it that I got at Target.

I also like that this is easy to keep my girls entertained and also calm them down after a busy day. Yes, they might make a mess with the activity but they do enjoy it. And yes my older girls like playing with the bins as well.

We enjoy simple activities for each season or holiday. What is nice about this is that you can always change up the erasers as the seasons change. Plus I love how my girls get creative with each bin that we make. It takes me less and 5 minutes to put this together.

They will often ask for things while playing and I’ll get it for them. My youngest is shown playing in this bin and she did ask me for a few extra things to play with. I always keep in mind that this is their play time and not one that I set out for them to do set tasks while playing with the bin. They can pick and choose what they want to do.

What you need to for these activities: seasonal erasers, rice, cup, bin, heart cookie cutters, and heart playdough mat.

After putting the sensory bin together and mixing it up good, the first thing my youngest did was pull all of the erasers out of the bin! Yes, this is her play and what was what she wanted to do. She started to see if they would all fit in the cup or not. This was a great fine motor skill for her to pick up the little eraser from the bin. She said they were easy to find because they felt really different from the rice in the bin. After filling the cup she put the rest of the erasers on the floor next to the bin.

After she had all the erasers out she spent some time running her hands through the rice. I do give them a plan rice sensory bin every now and then and they love it.

Next she made the rice nice and flat in the bin. Then she sorted all the erasers into their different piles. After she finished sorting all the eraser she made some patterns with the erasers in the sensory bin. She loves doing pattern activities and this was a fun way to do it.

She asked me for a heart cookie cutter I got those. She put cleaned out the earsers from the bin and put the cookie cutter in the rice leaving a heart shape print. She then put the erasers around the heart shape.

One of my girls favorite activities and scooping up whatever is in the bin and pouring it back into the bin. Yes, it gets messy but they have fun with it. My youngest did all sorts of pour activities. She did just erasers, just rice and mixed together. She even poured the rice and erasers on her hands to feel the difference of them hitting her hand. She did this for a long time and loved it.

Another fun activity that she die was run her hands under the rice and erasers and lift up her hands and see how many erasers she could get on the backs of her hands. She would dump them off to the side and the count the erasers and then start over again.

The last activity that she did was with the and her heart playdough mat. She put the erasers around on the heart playdough mat.

This was a simple and easy bin with so much fun that can be changed up for easy season or holiday. Plus does not cost a lot of money and the erasers can be reused for other things.
