Playdough House for Hermit Crab
We have several books that we love from Eric Carle. It was hard to pick just one for this month’s Virtual Book Club for kids.
The girls each had a book they wanted to do. We decided that we would do each of their books on their own. For today I’m posting the first one. The book we picked for the Virtual Book Club for kids was A House for Hermit Crab (The World of Eric Carle).
A House for Hermit Crab (The World of Eric Carle) was one of the first books that we read by Eric Carle. It is a great book to learn about about a hermit crab and the journey that he takes.
I like all the different things that he collects on the journey. I made a House for Hermit Crab Pack a while back. We did some activities from it before we started this activity.
What you need for this Hermit Crab Activity

How we did this sensory activity
As we got started my youngest asked for more things to help her create her item for the hermit crab. She wanted a knife, scissors and a roller.
We started with one small addition to his shell. We talked about this was the first new addition to his home.
From there we added several more things to his shell and gave him some new friends as well. This was a fun fine motor activities and talked about what kinds of plants or animals were added to our crabs home. This was a great fine motor activity as well as learning to be creative.
We love Eric Carle at our house. If you are in the area check out the Eric Carle Museum. We learned a lot about his art and other artist as well. The girls loved it and can’t wait to visit it again!
