Free Planet Pattern Cards for Working AB and ABC Patterns

Patterns are one of the first math activities kids can work on and not even know they are doing math!

Pattern math is working on building a pattern using many different objects. And we take this fun math activity and use planets for the pattern activity. It is great because you have red planets, orange planets, yellow planets, green planets, blue planets and purple planets and for the patterns. And this is perfect any time of the year.

You have a mix of no-prep and hands-on activities that kids can do with these fun colored planets.

What is a pattern?

A pattern is something that happens or appears in a regular and repeated way.

An example might be you have two red dots and one blue dot. Then the pattern repeats red, red, blue, red, red, blue etc. That is an AAB pattern.

Planet Pattern Printables

This fun planet pattern set has four different parts. You have the planet pattern strips, planet pattern cards, planet pattern worksheets, and planet pattern girds.

Each of these works to give you a hands-on pattern and no-prep pattern activity to use during the year with a space theme.

Planet Color Cards

You have several colored planet cards to use with the planet pattern activity. You can use the planet cards or use other items for the colors. You have colors red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple for the planets.

Planet AB Pattern Cards Printables

You have nine AB pattern cards to use with kids. This allows kids to have their own colors for when they work on the pattern worksheets. You have colors red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple for the planets on the AB pattern cards.

Planet ABC Pattern Cards Printables

You have six ABC pattern cards to use with kids. This allows you to have a mix of colored patterns to use with the worksheet. And so not everyone has the same colors. You have colors red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple for the planets on the ABC pattern cards.

These are just a few ways to use this space pattern printable. And it is one that can be used almost all year because kids love a space theme.

Ways to use the Pattern Cards and Worksheet

You have two worksheets and you can use one or several of the pattern cards with it.

You can see we have the ABC pattern worksheet and one of the ABC pattern cards.

You can see below how we used one set of pattern cards and filled out the whole worksheet using dot markers. A simple way to do the activity but you could also color the worksheet as well.

This is a great way to see how much they know about finishing or making the pattern.

Ways to use the Pattern Strips

You have four pattern strips for AB and ABC patterns.

You can see one of the AB strips below. We used acrylic rocks to help make the pattern. You can use glass gems or clear counters. Anything that would help make the colored pattern.

There are colored planets in the pack you can use with these strips.

You can see how it would work for the ABC pattern strips. You can also have them repeat the pattern beyond the strip if you want.

Ways to use the Pattern Grid Printable

You can see how the pattern gird works. You can use it with hands-on items or with colors and dot markers. You can see how to reuse it below. We use the acrylic rocks because they are great for fine motor.

You take a pattern card and make the pattern with the colored rocks. A great hands-on pattern activity for kids.
