The place value mats and card printables are a great addition to the place value printables on the site.

What is Place Value?

The dictionary says that place value is the numerical value that a digit has by virtue of its position in a number.

That sounds really complicated, but it is not. Each number digit has a value based on where it is. So, if I have the number 24. Then the 2 is in the tens place, and the 4 is in the ones place. It is super easy once you understand what each place value is.

There are several terms used in place value: standard, value, expanded, and picture.

Place Value Mats & Place Value Number Cards Printables

You have a fun set of place value mats with each mat have three place values for the mats. The set also has cards with numbers to match the place value. This is a great way to work on place value with a hands-on chart and place value cards to build the numbers.

Place Value Mats Printables

Each of the place value mats is really simple they have space for 9 spots and in each place value. I wanted to work with something that showed just 9 columns so that it would be easy to see that if you had more than 9 spaces you can move it to the next place value. Or it carries over to the next place value.

I recommend laminating the place value charts to help them last longer. I wanted something that would fit a unifix cubes in nicely.

They have three place values per sheet. You will find place value sheets for ten, ones, hundreds, thousands, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million, ten million, hundred million, billion, ten billion, hundred billion, tenths, hundredths, thousandths

Place Value Number Cards Printables

The cards have two different types of place value cards. They have numbers 0 to 9 for each place value. You have the cards are in expanded form and the unit form for the numbers. Why not ten spots in a column? Because if you have enough for 10 you move it as 1 to the place value.
