What is the Nativity?
The nativity is the story of the birth of Jesus or the birth of Christ described in the biblical gospels of Luke and Matthew. This is the story about Mary and Joseph and when Jesus was born, and it is a great story to tell every Christmas.
Nativity Watercolor Painting
You use watercolor paper and then cookie cutters to make the nativity with kids. You can learn names like Baby Jesus, Mary, Joesph, the star, the angels, the donkey, and sheep. These are the cookie cutters we had in our set. But you could use others like the shepherds and the wise men.

How we made the Nativity Watercolor Painting With Cookie Cutters
You are see the steps below we used to make the nativity watercolor painting.
Paint Inside the Cookie Cutter on the Watercolors
You want to start with baby Jesus first to have him in the center of the paper. You hold the outside of the cookie cutter and then paint with watercolors inside the cookie cutter.
We have found that bigger paint brushes are better when painting inside cookie cutters. But any size can be used.
Paint the Next part of the Nativity Scene
After you finish one part, you head to the next part of the nativity scene. You can see that we painted Mary next. You will want to pick different colors for each part of the Nativity.
Keep Adding more Parts of the Nativity
You can keep painting more parts of the nativity. It is great way to explore the nativity while painting.
