Matching Sight Word Cards to Sight Word Wall Cards
With all learning it is fun to take something and change it up. We use the new Dolch Preprimer Sight Word Wall Cards for just this activity. This activity is a fun way to reinforce sight words and looking at the letter they start with.
I change it up by having her match them to the wall cards. This made her think about the starting letter and where it was on the table.
What you need for this activity: Dolch Preprimer Sight Word Wall Cards and Dolch Preprimer Flash Cards Both cards and wall cards were printed smaller. The cards were 4 pages per 1 sheets and the wall cards were 2 per page
We first went thought and read all the sight word cards on the ring first.
Then together we laid out the cards on the table and she started matching the small cards to the wall cards. Every card she pulled out she would say the word and then say what letter it starts with. Then she would find the wall card it matched.
To change this activity up for an older child: mix up the order of the wall cards and have them match as many cards as they can in a sort set time limit. Start with 1 minute and then shorten it as you go. This will challenge their memory and how well they know the words.
