January Poppins Book Nook: To The Laboratory

January’s theme is a great one! To the Laboratory! I’m looking forward to it, but most of all exploring some new books about it. I will admit that we don’t have many books in the house about science. I always get them at the library. We will be using the library to explore more books. It is a great explore the world around us and science is something that is very fun.

January Poppins Book Nook: To The Laboratory

One of the first books I thought about was The Everything Kids’ Science Experiments Book: Boil Ice, Float Water, Measure Gravity-Challenge the World Around You!. It has so many different experiments that you can do. It is hard to pick just one thing to do. I love that you can pick and choose and that kids can love learning.

One of our favorite science activities that we have done is Water Walking. It is easy to set up and works almost every time. Another easy project is changing colors on flowers. When you work with kids in a home laboratory almost anything can become something fun.

Lately we have been watching Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey and learning about early scientist and how they explored the world around them. We also read Star Stuff: Carl Sagan and the Mysteries of the Cosmos and learned more about Carl Sagan. Learning about the world thought science and exploring what is about us is a great way to interact with our kids. I hope that you are as excited about this theme as I am!
