Dog House Themed Addition Matching
Learning addition is always a simple concept but not all kids get the idea. It is great to have different ways to work on learning.
I love doing matching activities when I can. We have done so many sorting activities our the years and love them.
Today’s printable is a simple visual addition with matching. It is a fun activity to get kids learning addition while having a little fun.
This printable is a part of My Pets Week.
I like to use matching because it moves things around and gives you another hands-on style of learning. Kids don’t always just like worksheets. So for those that don’t this is fun!
In the set, you work on addition 1 to 10. There are two dog themed addition cards for each number. This is a great visual way to see how we are adding up to a number. I recommend printing on cardstock and laminating the cards to help them last longer.
How we used this printable
You can start out simple. Just give them the one addition card and the matching dog house. I start with the cards face up and have them put the addition card to match the dog house.
After they have the idea add in all the cards. Then have them match the two cards that go together. The cards are great because they show very easy how you can mix up the numbers.
You can also use the dog counters with the cards. You can group the dogs to matching the math on the card. You could also just give them the number and have them match the dog counters to the number.
Now after you have sorted the cards you can record them on the worksheet. It has a place from the two equations and answers. This is a simple way to work in more learning by them writing the equation.
