Chopsticks – Playing with Chopsticks
We read Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Scott Magoon for the Virtual Book Club. The girls loved reading Chopsticks after having read Spoon.
What you need: yarn, pom poms, chopsticks of various kinds, pick up sticks, containers and plates.
We tried to use the chopsticks. They pulled them apart.
I showed them how you hold chopsticks.
They each tired to hold them.
Then they worked on using them. We tried pompoms first. Part of the way through I broke out the learner chopsticks for Mary.
Then we put yarn noodles on our plates and pretended to eat them.
We tried to play pick up sticks. It did not work very well so they practices dropping them. Each had their own set to play with.
Then they did their own pretend play with everything. It was lots of fun.

Chopsticks look like so much fun to play with!!! What simple and cute activities.
Simple is always best. We will keep this around for open play time for them.
Thanks for stopping by my little blog. I love any activities linked to books and this looks particularly cute and fun! Thanks for the great ideas (and head up about a new book!).
It looks like they had a great time with the chopsticks. Please think about linking this post to Read.Expore.Learn.
I’ll make sure to link up!
Thank you so much for linking up. I am going to share this post on the Read.Explore.Learn. Facebook page today.
You are welcome. I try and remember to do it when I have posts.
What awesome ideas! Love the pretend noodles! 🙂
I can see that those little girls had so much fun in using chopsticks. I remember my first time using chopsticks. I had so much fun and using chopsticks in eating makes my food more delicious.
