Baby Bear, Baby Bear Gross Motor
This month for the Virtual Book Club, we read Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? Board Book (World of Eric Carle) by Bill Martin Jr.
I love how the books repeat and you learn some fun reading in them. These type of books have been a favorite at our house for some time. I picked this book because it is a current favorite of my youngest. Check out the gross motor that we did with the book.
What you need for this activity is just Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? Board Book (World of Eric Carle) and open area.
Baby Bear: we did some bear walking.
Red Fox: we started with crawling really fast around the room.
Flying Squirrel: We lifted up our arms and legs and rocked back and forth.
Mountain goat: we did standing climbing. You move the arms up and down like you are going up a ladder. You bring you knees up high as well.
Blue Heron we leaned forward at the waist and then flapped our arms.
Prairie dog: we did some digging on the floor and quick as we could do it.
Stripped Skunk: we crawled around the room really slow.
Mule Dear: we ran in place and then around the room.
Rattlesnake: we did crawling on our tummies.
Screech Owl: we flapped our arms really fast and then slow and repeated several times.
Mama Bear: we repeated out bear walk.
I hope you enjoyed our Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? Board Book (World of Eric Carle) gross motor! This gives a fun all over work out for the kids and I encourage you to do it with you kids as well! In the short time we did this everyone was breathing hard and having a great time. We did this several times. We ended with each picking their favorite animal and doing that gross motor again.
Here are some of the books you can read by Bill Martin Jr. that we will be checking out.

What a wonderful way to retell a story! I love how into it the girls got.
We did this for about 30 minutes. I did it with them after the first round through for pictures. It was a great workout for them and me!
This is great! And with all of the the different versions of this book you could do a different workout every day. We’re definitely going to give this a try.
We have been doing stuff like this for the last few years. It is always fun and is just putting my degree to use.
Love this idea and will have to try it with my boys and my class!
It is tons of fun and easy to do. I love doing gross motor activities with my girls.
Thanks! It was tons of fun to do! I can’t wait to do more like this during the school year!
Simple go-along activities are so much fun and bring a book alive for little ones. Thanks for sharing! 😉
Glad you like it. We have done all the books in the series that way. We love it.
