April 2016 Book Finds

We read loads of books at our house. Every week we go to the library and pick out new books. Every week we come home with 20 to 30 new books. It is often hard to pick out just a few of our favorites from the month. This month is a mix of library and books bought. We got over 150 books from the library this month. It was a hard time picking just a few!

We love going to the library and our monthly trip to the bookstore. It is nice to pick up new books to read.

April 2016 Book Finds: Goldielocks & 3 Bears, history, phrases & sayings, ocean, moving, easy reader book, interactive books - 3Dinosaurs.com

Yard Sale is great book about moving from a house to some place smaller and letters go of things. It is a good book about what really matters and that some times we have to let go of things.

Goldilocks and Just One Bear is a twist on the classic. This time the bear goes wandering and gets lost in the big city. He finds a nice high-rise apartment and settles in. I love the twists and turns in the story and how it turns out. We love reading the fairy tales with slight changes.

Big Cat (I Like to Read Books) is a great early reader book! It has lots of CVC and basic sight word from the Dolch Preprimer sight word list. Plus great pictures to help with tricky words. This is great for kids in kindergarten.

Yaks Yak: Animal Word Pairs is great for looking at fun words that are the same but also an animal. Like the cover shows yaks yak! It is a great set of words together and then explains about the two words. It is tons of fun to learn about the meaning of the animal and the action. Some words are bat, yak, duck, steer, and more.

Sea Bones is a great book to learn about the different kinds of bones in the ocean. Every page has fun inforamtion to learn about the different types of bones. This would be great for an ocean unit.

You’re Pulling My Leg!: 440 Human-Body Sayings from Head to Toe was a riot of a book to read. I think I enjoyed it more than my girls did. We read over the different sections in the book. You can see saying about the body, neck, toenails and more! It was fun to see how many saying they had heard vs I had heard. This is fun to learn more about saying like: “It’s like pulling teeth”. The book breaks down in a simple way what all of them mean for kids.

Timeline: A Visual History of Our World (Gecko Press Titles) is great for all those kids that like history and facts. It covers many different ages and has fun facts and pictures to look at the timeline! See what fun facts you kids can learn. We read this book over 2 weeks a little bit at a time and loved it!

Let’s Play! is a book my girls have been looking forward to! We really enjoy Herve Tulle’s books! If you loved Press Here, you will like this book! My girls like books that you interact with even if they know what will happen.
