Apple Counting and Math with Water Beads
The girls like to do the counting and math pages. This time we did something different we used water beads in our counting.
I like that these mats and flexible and can be using many different ways. There is always something fun about doing math and counting hands on. In the pack there are always something you can cut out and count, but giving them a hands on sensory when doing math is fun. Using water beads is just fun. The girls looked forward to doing the counting as soon as they saw what we would be doing.
What you need: apple counting and math mats from the Apple Pack, sheet with math problems and red water beads.
I use 3 different math mats when we doing this activity. Each of the girls has something they are working on. This is a fun way to work on a skill with everyone doing the same thing but different levels.
My oldest gets subtraction. She counts out the beads from the biggest number. Then takes the small number away from her beads to get her answer.
My middle gets addition. She puts both numbers on the page and adds the total up.
My youngest gets counting. She hands a stack of numbers and she goes through and counts.
They love doing hands on activities when they can. This is fun and can be done easy.
