Ancient Egypt Learning at the MFA

Museum of Fine Arts Boston: Egypt

We took a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston that was just to the Ancient Egypt section. The girls loved seeing all the items there since we had learned a little about Egypt before we went. You can see our first MFA trip review here.

We got to explore the many different parts of the area. We spent our whole time there. Each got to draw something from the room. You can see my oldest doing one of her many drawings.

They love the coffins and looking at the different designs. My middle asked if they were real people in them and I said yes they were real people that died a long time ago. We looked at many different coffins and how they were put one in another. We also looked at the animal mummies. We talked about what type of animals they had made mummies out of.

They loved looking at the room with the sarcophagus and items to help the dead travel to the other side. The details were amazing and they started to pick out small items they liked.

We looked closely at the pottery and jewelry of the period. How different it was to what we had at home. They said they liked their plates at home much better.

After seeing so many fun things at the MFA they were very excited to do more of the activities at home. It gave them a great view onto everything. It made the books seem much more real. After this visit we watch we few documentaries from Netflix on Ancient Egypt.

  1. Oh, I so meant to do this with Hazel this month since we did a lot of Egypt things with Around the World in 12 Dishes. I hope you will link up to the blog hop for it. I love seeing all the things you do with your kids.
